Preserving and protecting cultural legacy and contemporary art practice, and to share it with all New Zealanders
The Trust
McCahon House Trust was established in 1999, to recognise the life and art of Colin McCahon during the transformative period the family lived in Titirangi, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, from 1953 to 1960.
This is achieved through offering Parehuia Artist Residency, a purpose-built apartment and artist studio of international standing, and by preserving the original family home, the McCahon House Museum, as a place for the public to visit.
In recent years, the Trust has expanded its focus to embrace McCahon’s legacy as a gifted teacher, as well as the talents of our Parehuia alumni, by advancing the practice of contemporary art in Aotearoa through education and international engagement.
